Target users - update

Image
Target Audience: Since the previous audience target was too limited, I decided to change my audience target, expand the scope, and let more people use it. I determined the final audience university students  Because of my own life experience and the general procrastination of the surrounding students, data research shows that the phenomenon of procrastination in college students reaches more than 80%. Research purposes: Procrastination is extremely common in daily life, and almost everyone has procrastinated.(Zhu, Wang, Zhao, Wu, Sun,2019). Research has shown that ''nearly 50% of people have long-term procrastination and problematic procrastination, and procrastination behaviour is also common in student groups.'' Some data show that in the daily activities of the student group, procrastinators usually account for more than 1/3, and they show an upward trend year by year.

Update research - procrastination(Influencing factors & Intervention)

Procrastination refers to the failure of self-regulation, and the behaviour of delaying the things planned to be done even when the consequences can be expected to be harmful.  According to (Grunschel, 2018)‘Academic procrastination is considered to be a result of self-regulation failure having detrimental effects on students’ well-being and academic performance.’ In this material, the author developed and evaluated group training aimed at reducing academic delays. A total of 106 students completed the training, and the training was done through time management and concentration. Promoting the process of self-regulation in their intervention is a successful attempt to support students in reducing academic procrastination.

Technical Prototype

Image
This video explains how I operate it and how to make an app prototype. I decided to use Axure to design my app prototype because I used it last year, so I am very familiar with it. First, put the picture designed in ps into it, then click interaction, it will let you select the next page you want to link to, Because I want to do some animations, I only did one animation at the beginning page, after I will try more dynamic effects, now I will show some initial prototype designs.

UX Design: How to Use Animations in Mobile Apps This video is about u se auto-animate transitions to define micro-interactions between artboards. progress Animation If the process of interaction is a bit longer and users have to wait, they would prefer to understand what’s going on and what’s the progress. The biggest advantage of this animated interaction is providing assurance for the users, making them aware and confident in the process of using the product. A confident user means positive user experience and provides a good ground for the high level of user retaining. Animation of progress bars, timelines, and other dynamic elements can kill several birds with one stone: Attention-Drawing Animation This kind of animation plays the role of UX affordance when users interact with your app.  It supports general visual hierarchy with motion catching the user’s attention and directing it to the necessary details. This way it saves precious time on scanning all the screen layout and m...

Contribution to Career Goals

My degree project is app design. AI software is mainly used. I have used this software in other projects before, mainly for typesetting and interface design. When designing the app interface, it will also be used Axure software, this software is very convenient and fast. App function demonstration will be demonstrated in the form of animation, and PR and AE software may also be used. This is something I have never tried. I am very interested in dynamic things, and I also think that this is a transformation that every designer should try to turn flat things into three-dimensional and static into dynamic, so that my future clients will watch my design It is easier to understand, and I also think this is a good direction for my future career development.

Contributor Rights

In the project, I asked my friend about my topic procrastination, they only answer some of my research questions, so I don’t know if they need to fill in the contributor’s release form.

Usability Testing

 1. plan the test Define the   problems/area focus on -  procrastination My test task is mainly for students with procrastination.  And I will take online tests, similar to questionnaire interviews, or video and voice calls. After sorting out opinions, make improvements. 2. recruiting participants My visitors are international students from China. I have found 6 people, And they all have procrastination. so I will look for them for the next test and organize relevant information on the Internet. 3. designing the tasks The interview time will be about 20 minutes. If the contributor agrees to the recording, I will record it. 4.running the session This protocol leaves some room for customization but still guarantees an overall standardized experience for each test subject. 5.Collect pre-testing data Organize notes or video and audio Ensure that the access information is correct 6. analyzing the insights Finally, after you've collected all data, it's time to analyze...

Ethics Considerations

Ethics and/or legal or contractual issues  I need 5 participants to complete this project together.( Mainly to ask them some questions about procrastination and how they solved it) These participants are all Chinese studying in the UK. These participants all fit the characteristics of my target audience. Before working with anyone, first of all, I will show them the ethics certificate to get permission for the consent box. After getting their clear affirmation, I will clearly point out how the behaviour and ideas of the participants are used and studied. With reference to The Interaction Design Foundation (2021), I will also consider the data security of the participants and not waste the time of the participants. I passed their permission and had a short voice chat. In fact, They are all my friends, they are willing to answer questions about my project. Because in the project, they only need to answer some of my research questions, so I don’t know if they need to fill in the...

Disseminated

Project Dissemination  The main form of the project is APP. Will be released in the mobile app store. Users can experience this work on their mobile phones. In the demonstration, this APP will require a staff member to maintain the equipment and ensure that the software runs correctly. The kit required to install the app will be a laptop, a projector, a projector screen, and a power cord. Users can watch the app usage tutorial and app advertisements mainly on the computer. Everyone who enters the venue can access the app program, as long as the user is at the installation site. Assume that the user does not want to install the app. Three IPAD devices will be prepared on site for users to experience.

Technical Tutorial - Axure animation

Image
I really like to make some animation special effects to give users a better visual and user experience. I tried to look at the tutorial, simple special effects can be quickly implemented in axure, if you want to do some cool special effects, you also need to draw in ai or ps software, and then implement it. I am willing to challenge because it will be fun. Youtube.com. 2021. [online] Available at: <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HB9AVi-3ajw> [Accessed 6 January 2021].

Project Description

The idea for this project is to design an app 'study up'  ‘How to complete tasks while procrastination happily’ The behaviour of students to delay learning is very common (Kandemir, 2014). It is generally believed that procrastination will bring bad effects, but delaying task progress may have hidden benefits for creativity (Shin & Grant, 2020). When a student is procrastinating on homework, there are often two voices fighting in his mind. On one side is hedonism, on the other side is the guilt caused by procrastination. Therefore, how to use app design to help students complete their homework on time is the focus of my project. The application will still have academic delays without knowing how to manage tasks and time. Users can set different task levels according to the urgency of the task. In addition, the app also provides a unique study room with a timer and white noise environment to improve concentration and help users focus on their work. Reference:  Kandemir, M. ...

Visual colour research

One research carried out by the University of Essex, UK(2016)shows that green is a special colour and has the characteristics and functions as improving efficiency, eliminating fatigue, improving hearing, beneficial to staying focused, slowing down the breath, and lowering blood pressure.   Colour test psychologist Usher(2014)has analyzed the relationship between colour and personality and mentioned that blue is a colour combined with both spirituality and understanding. In the test of colour psychology, it was found that almost no one was averse to blue, a colour that makes people quiet and stabilizes their emotions.
